Valerie Harper
(2000) |
From ABC.com
Mary Richards has returned
to New York City from
Europe, still trying to
regain her equilibrium after
the death of her Congressman
husband five months ago.
Rhoda Morgenstern Gerard
Rousseau also has picked her
native New York to make a
fresh start after living in
Paris and divorcing her
husband, Jean Pierre.
Now, both single with
college-age daughters —
Mary's Rose (Joie Lenz) is a
student at New York
University and Rhoda's
Meredith (Marisa Ryan) is
pre-med at Columbia — they
reestablish their
wonderfully warm and
exhilarating friendship.
They're taking on New York
City and the daunting
challenges of motherhood and
finding new careers at a
difficult time to be on
their own.
Mary hasn't lost any of her
passion for the news
business and for trying to
make a difference in the
lives of the people around
her — even a stray dog that
comes to stay. Rhoda embarks
on her own path to success,
attempting to get her own
art show for her photography
with hilarious results.
But they're still our
favorite "Mare" and Rhoda,
learning to trust their
instincts about life and
each other, once again, with
that distinctive sense of
class and humor.
Mary and Rhoda is
directed by Emmy-winner
Barnet Kellman from a script
by Katie Ford. Mary Tyler
Moore and Susan B. Landau
are the executive producers.
The producer is Cecilia Kate
Roque.
